Southern general closes three wards
Thursday, October 4th, 2007. Filed under - South Side, Govan.An outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea at the Southern General Hospital has closed three wards.
The outbreak started on the weekend of 22 and 23 September. Since then no new patients have been admitted to these wards.
28 people have been affected by the outbreak which can last for 24 hours. Seven of the 28 are still showing symptoms.
No one is in any immediate danger as a result of the infection, reports the Hospital.
The Outbreak Control Team are still investigating. Staff at the hospital have put in control measures to prevent the condition spreading and the situation is being monitored around the clock.
