Unporvoked attack
Thursday, September 6th, 2007. Filed under Queen's Park.Police in the Southside are appealing for information after an unprovoked attack on a schoolboy which left him in hospital overnight.
The 15 year-old was walking in Burton Lane in Queen’s Park, shortly after 9pm on Wednesday August 8 when he was assaulted by a group of at least three youths who kicked, punched and stabbed him with an unknown weapon before running off into Langside Road.
The victim also managed to get to Langside Road where he was assisted by members of the public. He was taken to the Victoria Infirmary and detained overnight for treatment.
Detective Sergeant Debbie Johnstone is appealing for witnesses. She said, ‘At this time, we have no idea what the motive was for this assault and would be grateful for any assistance from the public in an effort to establish the exact circumstances. Unfortunately there is no description of the suspects other than three white males; therefore I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Burton Lane or Langside Road from around 9pm onwards on the night and who saw anything suspicious to contact me. This was a cowardly attack on a young boy who was in no position to defend himself.’
DS Johnstone can be contacted on 0141 532 4900.
Information can also be passed in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
