After winning the Gold Medal at the West of Scotland Bowling Championships in Alexandra Park in August, Jacqueline Branscombe, (37), will go to the Scottish Disability Championships 2007 in Aberdeen, on September 1.

Her team mate, Debbie Fotheringay, came second with a Silver medal and will be joining her in Aberdeen.

Jacqueline goes to The Wedge in Greater Pollok which provides help and support for people with special needs.

Being born with Downs Syndrome has not impeded her from enjoying her favourite hobby, bowling. She regularly plays and trains at Fairfield Bowling Club.

Jacqueline took part in Glasgow’s Special Olympics 2005, where she won a medal. She regularly competes in local and national competitions and has more than 20 trophies and medals to her credit.
Her other interests include pool, disco dancing and cooking. She intends going to Stow College where she will study computing and art among other subjects.

Jacqueline’s dad Jimmy (67), is retired and looks after her full time. He said, ‘I feel really proud of her amazing achievements. Being disabled has not stopped her from leading a full life. All these activities are really good for her. They keep her happy and busy and she has a better social life than me!’
