Tributes for Credit Union’s Theresa

Thursday, August 9th, 2007. Filed under Castlemilk.

Theresa Paton, President of Castlemilk Credit Union, died of cancer on Friday 27 July aged 70.

Four days later, her first grand daughter was born. She was a strong advocate of credit unions as a way to help people get out of debt and prevent others getting into debt in the first place.

The Board of Directors, volunteers and staff of Castlemilk Credit Union, in paying tribute to her said, ‘Theresa, a mother of three, dedicated her volunteer time to the credit union. In 1990, she deposited £1 in a council flat at 32 Dougrie Drive to become one of the first members of the Credit Union. She was the President for over 15 years. Her dry sense of humour and wit enhanced her character to make her the special lady that she was. She will be sadly missed.’
