Govanite David Flynn spent many hours at Sunny Govan Radio last month, preparing a programme for a BBC Radio Scotland series on ‘A day in the life of’ a community radio station.

‘I am looking at different angles,’ said the St Gerrard’s educated producer. ‘Since the BBC is now on the Southside, it seemed natural to do the show right here in Sunny Govan premises.’

‘I’d heard the station a few times and liked the sound. It fitted the criteria we needed for the series and it has strong ties to the community.’ Other community broadcasting companies being looked at included the army radio at Dreghorn barracks in Edinburgh and hospital radio lollipop in Tayside.

The series of half-hour programmes is scheduled to launch in the autumn.
