Amy Lynch of King’s Park Secondary School has won a UK first prize of a holiday to Disneyland Resort, Paris, by creating her own magical creature.

‘I’m not big on fairies,’ said the S1 student. ‘So I made a new kind of troll in dusty brown, which disguises itself in the swamp.’ She admits she was surprised to win the competition. ‘I didn’t think people in Glasgow usually won things.’

Her art teacher Gillian Pearson commented, ‘The competition was to create a magical creature like those in the movie Terabithia. We did research and drew ideas and Amy did fantastically well against competition from all over Britain. She is a great pupil and I’m very pleased she’s won.’
