Pop… and on with the Celidh

POP’s fourth annual clean up day was followed by a successful eat-up and listen-up event in the Hidden Gardens.

Good, hot food and lively ceilidh music from The Northern Lights band kept the party going after the work was done.

Local families who are Proud Of Pollokshields (POP) joined forces on a wet Sunday in June to pick up the litter and rubbish around Maxwell Square Park.

The community initiative supported by Glasgow City Council, the Big Lottery Fund, G41 newspaper, The Hidden Gardens and the community council, resulted in a fair amount of waste being gathered, ‘But not as much as in the first year when we were taking away stuff that had been lying for years,’ said Roz Adams one of the founders of the POP clean up event. ‘More than 80 people were involved and that’s not bad considering the weather,’ said Clem of the Hidden Gardens who was the co-ordinator.
