I can do anything
Thursday, July 12th, 2007. Filed under Gorbals.Around 20 professionals from various sectors were put under the spotlight as they were asked some interesting questions from inquisitive primary school children at the annual I Can Do Anything Conference.
Hosted at St Francis Primary School, Gorbals, last moth, it was organised by primary seven pupils from St Francis and Blackfriars primaries.
At the launch two guest speakers gave inspirational speeches, Neil Packham, Citizen’s Theatre and Louise Bustard, Botanic Gardens.
Students got to find out about what types of jobs are available by meeting, sports coaches, police officers and mechanics.
From start to finish the conference was organised by the pupls themselves.
As, Shannon McFadden, (12), one of the organisers said, ‘Today has been a really great day. Almost all the people we invited came along.’
Gerard Black, (12), said, ‘It took us six weeks of hard work and has been absolutely worth it.’
Jane Reid, Deputy Head at St Francis said, ‘I would like to say a big thank you and congratulations to all the pupils who managed to organise such a successful conference. It feels really good to just turn up on the day and everything is all ready to go.’
