Cutting the red tape in Gorbals
Thursday, July 12th, 2007. Filed under Gorbals.Josie Livingston MBE officially opened the new Gorbals Law Centre and Money Advice Centre by cutting symbolic ‘red tape.’
‘I’m absolutely delighted to be opening this Centre,’ she said, speaking as the Chairman of Castlemilk Law and Money Advice Centre which set up the new centre.
‘I hope it grows to the same extent as the Castlemilk Law Centre and helps as many people. My question is always – what would people have done if the centre had not been there for them?’
The offices are on the right, inside the courtyard of the Twomax building entered off Commercial Road, Gorbals. Open daily from 9.30am, appointments can be made on 0141 418 1010.
Said Angus McIntosh, Principal Solicitor at the Castlemilk Centre, ‘We expect the main problems will be similar to those we have in Castlemilk – rent and mortgage arrears and housing problems including homelessness.’
The Gorbals centre has been set up in partnership with New Gorbals Housing Association, Glasgow Homelessness Partnership, Glasgow City Council, Communities Scotland, Glasgow Housing Association and Glasgow Advice and Information Network (GAIN).
‘We have had excellent support and backing from local groups and look forward to continuing to work with people in the Gorbals in order to help the local community,’ said Mr McIntosh.
