Jenniburn in the cash

Monday, March 5th, 2007. Filed under Castlemilk.

A charge-free, cash machine is now up and running inside the Jenniburn Centre, in Tormursk Road, Castlemilk.

The Bank of Scotland has committed to providing 100 fee-free ATM’s in the poorest areas of Glasgow.

At the launch of the machine was Anne Marie Campbell, local resident and Secretary at the Jenniburn who said, ‘This is a really good idea, because all the other machines in the area charge people. This is a very good location where plenty of people will be accessing it.’

David Lennie, ATM Network Manager at HBOS commented, ‘Some banks charge up to £2.00 to take out a minimum of £10.00. We feel this is unfair and ridiculous. That is why we are offering this free-to-use ATM for residents in Castlemilk.’

Westminster MP, Tom Harris who, with David Lennie and Anne Marie Campbell, formally launched the new ATM commented, ‘I congratulate HBOS for recognising that charge-free cash machines should be available for every section of the community.’
