After school clubs saved
Monday, March 5th, 2007. Filed under Cardonald.Cardonald College stepped in to help following the collapse of childcare provider One Plus.
After-school clubs run for pupils from Lourdes Primary and Secondary and Our Lady of the Rosary Primary were all affected.
The College offered staff to run the clubs, after receiving a number of anxious calls from parents wanting to access the College’s new childcare facilities.Â
Six members of the College staff and two former employees of One Plus, employed on a temporary basis by the College, are now looking after a total of 33 children at the two clubs, with a view to extending the service into the spring.
Allan Forsyth, Assistant Principal at the Cardonald, said, ‘After the collapse of One Plus, parents were frantically looking for local after-school care and calling the College to see if we had spaces available in our Children’s Centre. Two days later, we agreed with Glasgow City Council to keep the two local One Plus after-school clubs open. The College will endeavour to offer a similar standard of service and to maintain costs at a competitive level.’
