    Lynn back on the slopes

Thursday, February 8th, 2007. Filed under - Sport.

Southsider Lynn Sharp has returned to the British Land Alpine skiing team following ten months recovering from a snapped knee ligament.

The 21-year-old whose home is in Newlands, considers the Alpine Ski World Championships in Sweden in February will be too soon for her to be on top form. ‘It is important to be realistic,’ said Lynn. ‘My goal is to be skiing at my best for the next Olympics in 2010.’

Based in the British Olympic Associations camp in Lofer, Austria, Lynn is able to go in at Europa Cup level because of points accumulated from previous races. But she’s decided to do some International Ski Federation races first.

Her parents Anne and Roy Sharp who are in the distribution business, and are responsible for distribution for the LOCAL NEWS and other publications, are totally committed to supporting Lynn. Their own prowess in skiing sparked her interest as a child but she says, ‘By the age of eight I knew skiing was special and I wanted to pursue it seriously.’
