Castlemilk kids have another new school complex.

Built by Balfour Beattie Construction Ltd, the St Bartholomew’s Primary and Machrie Nursery School has a capacity of 321 children and 100 nursery places. The £5.5 million campus is an amalgamation of the former St Bartholomew’s and St Julie’s Primary schools which closed in June 2004. The new building has among other things, a gymnasium, a high-tech library and media suite, dining and assembly hall and an all-weather synthetic pitch.

Bailie Margaret McCafferty, Executive member for Education Services said, ‘This is another great day for Castlemilk. The Council has invested  millions in our pre-12 strategy. Our aim is to create teaching and learning environments worthy of the 21st century, which give our youngsters the best chance to fulfil their potential.’
