Gorbals born top businessman, Willie Haughey, OBE, has been awarded the St Mungo Prize – Glasgow’s finest honour.

Glasgow’s Lord Provost Liz Cameron announcing the prize which is given to an outstanding citizen, said, ‘Willie Haughey is a true friend of this city and a giant of the business community and a patron of the arts.’

Founder of City Refrigeration whose HQ is being built in Gorbals on the spot where he was born, Mr Haughey said, ‘This is an amazing honour. I’m deeply humbled and will continue to do whatever I can to build on an economic success story which I hope will benefit everyone.’
