    Xmas tree

Thursday, November 30th, 2006. Filed under Govan.

Govan will have added festive cheer thanks to local Councillor John Flanagan’s efforts get a public Christmas tree.

Bailie Flanagan told the LOCAL NEWS, ‘Last year some constituents mentioned that there was no sign of Christmas in the area. I have been working for a tree since and I’m we will have one this year.’

The 25-foot tall tree has been donated by Glasgow City Council’s Land Services department. Bailie Flanagan said that the fork in the road between Govan Road and Burleigh Street – beside the statue of William Pearce – was the most likely area for the tree, depend on the approval of city lighting workers.

The Councillor hopes to have an official unveiling ceremony at some point in the next fortnight.
