Local athletes cut the ribbon on Battlefield’s new Domino’s Pizza, which celebrated their opening with a donation to Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB).

The store has donated £300 to SOGB, which offers people with learning disabilities opportunities through year-round training and competition.

Gordon McCormack, Special Olympics Regional Chairman, said, ‘We’re delighted that Domino’s Battlefield has chosen to support Special Olympians from Glasgow in their bid to get to the Shanghai World Games in 2007. We had a great day with the Domino’s team at the store today and look forward to their support over the coming months.’

Footballers Mark Britten, Moira Brown and Mary Fitzsimmons and Basketball player Andrew Smith are all hoping to compete in Shanghai’s games next year. The athletes cut the ribbon on the Battlefield Road store, which ‘intends to deliver more than just great-tasting pizza to the local community’, and has pledged to continue to support the Olympic hopefuls.

Store Manager Gregor Smith said, ‘Glasgow is a great town and I’ve got a fantastic team working with me. We’re very excited to be opening our doors for business to the local community and it’s our mission to deliver hot, fresh pizzas to our customers every time.’
