International visitors
Thursday, November 30th, 2006. Filed under Cardonald.A group of Turkish visitors was treated to some extra-curricular activities when they attended Cardonald College for training.
The employees of Istanbul-based gas company IGDAS were in Glasgow to receive training in Operation and Administrative Management of Utilities, an area the College specialises in.
Colin Gordon, International Development Co-ordinator at Cardonald, took the visitors to Rangers FC’s home ground, Ibrox, and to Edinburgh. ‘The College has a strong reputation throughout Europe for training in the utilities industry,’ he added, ‘And we are delighted to expand this with our new contacts at IGDAS.’ Three IGDAS groups, totalling 60 people, have been through the training course.
Mustafa Mert, IGDAS Human Resources Director, was one of the recent visitors. He said, ‘I cannot thank the staff and students at Cardonald College enough for the warm welcome they gave to my colleagues and me.’
IGDAS General Manager Levent Tufekci said, ‘We now see Cardonald College as part of the IGDAS family and look forward to working on projects together.’
Cardonald College has welcomed two sets of foreign visitors over the past twelve months as a result of European trade missions through Scottish Development International (SDI) and Business Gateway International.
Hadi Fawzy of SDI said, ‘We are delighted by the success that Cardonald College has enjoyed as a result of its hard work. We are very pleased that the College has agreed to join the next trade mission to the United Arab Emirates. I have no doubt that it will secure more international business with its efforts.’
Soon after the Turkish visitors, the College welcomed 28 French water industry students from the Limousin Region and plans to do so, again, in 2007.
