Award for achiever Arti
Thursday, November 30th, 2006. Filed under Kinning Park.Having just celebrated her 23rd birthday Arti Poddar received another gift when she walked away with the Young Achiever of the Year Award at the first ever Scottish Asian Business Awards dinner.
Arti is Operations Director of Lambhill Court Ltd, the chain of care homes on Glasgow’s Southside founded ten years ago by her parents Sam and Sunita Poddar.
She told the audience of more than 400 people at the SAS Radisson Hotel that her commitment to quality care for elderly people had been cultivated by her parents’ inspiring vision and revolutionary model of care homes. ‘This is not just a job,’ she said. ‘It is a passion. Without understanding my father’s passion for care, I would not be able to understand him and would not be as effective in my work.’
The glittering event, which was televised and hosted by former Sky News presenter Lisa Aziz and Southside actor Atta Yaqub, was organised by Ethnic Media Group, publishers of the newspaper, Eastern Eye Scotland.
Group Managing Director, Wayne Bower commented, ‘It is a testimony to the hard work, determination and compassion that exists within the Scottish Asian business community that all the winners have also used their business acumen to do some good for others.’
