    Seeing Silverburn

Thursday, October 12th, 2006. Filed under Pollok.

Work at the massive Silverburn complex in Pollok is well underway with the flagship M&S and Debehnams buildings taking shape.

Senior Construction Manager Mark Pippard of Bovis Lend Lease (pictured, first left) has taken several groups of local residents, organisations and businesses out onto the site to see for themselves what is happening.

‘We expect 50 units will be ready by Christmas 2007,’ he said. ‘This is Scotland’s largest construction site with 1 million square feet of retail space being created at an investment of £350 million. That is a reflection of the confidence Retail Property Holdings have in the area.’

Residents from Carnock Road area (pictured above) were among the first to take up the invitation to see Silverburn as it developed. ‘I think it will be very good once it is open as long as the local chemist will be there and other familiar shops,’ said Noreen Callaghan. ‘It’s just a pity we’re going to have to wait so long for them.’
