Open castle
Thursday, October 12th, 2006. Filed under Crookston.MSP Patricia Ferguson joined local school children at Glasgow’s only castle – in Crookston – as part of Scottish Archaeology Month and of the Doors Open Programme.
Ms Ferguson, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport, said, ‘Each year these events give thousands of people the opportunity to see behind the scenes at some of Scotland’s most impressive buildings and historic sites. Scotland has a fascinating history and incredible architecture. These events allow people to find out more about the processes that have shaped their towns, villages and cities.’
Storytellers from the Village Storytelling project entertained the children with tales of Crookston’s past. The Pollok-based project aims to bring the community together and through storytelling, encouraging a sense of pride in the area.
