Mount Florida Attack

Monday, October 23rd, 2006. Filed under Mount Florida.

A 15-year-old boy was attacked by a gang at a bus stop in Cathcart Road as he waited for a lift from his parents in what police called a ‘senseless attack’.

His parents found the teenager lying in Mount Florida, near Clincart Road. Police said that the teenager was waiting to meet his parents at the bus stop when five men approached him and attacked him ‘without provocation’.
The gang seriously assaulted the boy and struck him with a sharp implement before leaving him in the street and running off down Clincart Road.

The teenager’s parents arrived soon after the attack and rushed him to the Victoria Infirmary where he was treated for his injuries.

Detective Constable Michael Mackinnon of Cathcart CID said, ‘This was a particularly violent attack by five males who completely outnumbered this defenceless boy. The boy was simply waiting for his parents to pick him up after a night out and has been picked on in a senseless attack. We would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Cathcart Road and Clincart Road between 10.45 and 11pm on Friday September 29 and who may have seen a group of youths in the area. We also believe that several passing motorists stopped to offer assistance and I’d ask these people to get in touch as they may unwittingly have information that could help our inquiries.’

Police are asking anyone with information to contact DC Mackinnon on 0141 532 5059 or call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
