What a difference a year makes
Thursday, September 14th, 2006. Filed under Newton Mearns.Newton Mearns’ Parklands country club has re-opened after over a year of ‘restoration and improvement’.
The club in Ayr Road was gutted by fire in July last year and its re-opening was attended by four of the firemen who attended the blaze.
The new-look club has a crèche, a bar and bistro, various sports and gym equipment, private function rooms, all-new swimming and sauna facilities, a day spa and a hair salon. The work repairing and improving the club took 372 days.
Club Director Michael Modlin said, ‘Many health and leisure centres have pool facilities and traditional sauna and steam rooms but we wanted to give our loyal members something truly special to reward their continued loyalty and we know that potential members will have seen nothing like it to compare in the area either.’
Parklands employ 99 local staff, many of whom have worked together for 10 years.
