The furniture will go to local charities such as the Big Issue, Nil by Mouth and Scottish Churches House.
The Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS) is distributing the desks, lamps, filing cabinets, chairs, microwaves, kettles and more. Jackets worn by presenters Shereen Nanjiani and Sarah Heaney will also be donated.
Alison Love, GCVS office facilities and services manager said they would be getting a quantity of good quality ‘conference material’ such as screens, sound equipment, tables and chairs for a new learning centre to be opened next year. ‘It would have cost us a fortune to buy this sort of stuff. We’ve kitted out the new centre and saved thousands of pounds.’
Tom Gallagher, Project Director of STV’s move to Pacific Quay said, ‘I’m thrilled that we are able to donate as much as we possibly can from our old building to deserving charities across Scotland.’
