Rio look out!
The Southside Carnival is putting itself about! More than 200 people from a dozen local groups donned spectacular costumes to parade from Langside Halls to Queen’s Park on Saturday 19 August.

There were six costume bands, four music bands and three floats with sound systems in the procession. Another 500 or more folk turned up in the park to enjoy the entertainment and Carnival fun.

Stilts walker Selven, has a loud voice so was able to talk with the young lads at his ankles.

Steven stepped into the spare and flamboyant costume at the last minute and looked as if he’d tailored it to suit himself.

Toryglen’s Integration Network were out in force with Eveline Louden leading the way and little Cristina Bikanga Aoa not far behind. Also adding to the pageantry were Nicole Rennie, Demi McMillan, Amie McKellar, Mireilla Bikanga Aoa and Melissa Tait. In the seven week summer programme they managed to create their eye catching outfits with the help of Scottish Carnival Arts Centre expert, Alan Cairns.
