There are major changes afoot for Local Development Companies.

Greater Pollok Development Company will change its name to EQUIP this month. EQUIP expects to process 30,000 job enquiries at the new Silverburn shopping complex. ‘These are life-changing opportunities and EQUIP is encouraging local people to be a part of it,’ said Bill Munsie, managing director. The jobs will come out of £1 billion of investment in Glasgow South West.’

Govan Initiative has been named as a finalist in one of Europe’s most prestigious business quality monitoring systems – the EFQM Excellance Awards. It is listed among 26 best-performing, not-for-profit businesses from across Europe.

The winner will be announced in November in Budapest. Chief Executive Damien Yeates is leaving to head up learndirect scotland which promotes the Scottish Executive’s life long learning strategies.
