Harmony Row Youth Club held their 6th highly successful Soccer Festival last month, attended by 20 teams and a big crowd of supporters from families and friends.

The event was a family friendly fun day as bouncy castles and snack bars were available and well used at the Nethercraigs Playing Fields. Councillor Alistair Watson presented the trophies and congratulated the teams on their sportsmanship and spirit of fair play. As a boy he played for Harmony Row and admits he has a soft spot for the Youth Club.

Pictured on the right here is one of the teams with Councillor Watson. Every player on the park that day took home a medal. The Juniors of the Club play every Sunday afternoon at Lourdes Secondary School.
Organised by John Hendry with the Harmony row Junior Team coaches, the event was sponsored by National Tyres and Autocare.

Local clubs

Chairman and Chief Executive, Alan L. Revie said, ‘It is with great pride that this company is able to help the local football club, Harmony Row, in their football extravaganza.’ Construction is soon to start on the first phase of the Club’s plans to create a youth centre at Braehead Centre.

Capital Shopping Centres – the owners of Braehead – were approached by the Club’s patron Sir Alex Ferguson after earlier plans fell through and asked to help. Capital provided 3.5 acres of land at Braehead near the IKEA super store and funding towards the cost of construction. ‘Thanks to such wonderful help, we are about to fulfil our dream of creating a centre that can be used by thousands of young people for many years to come,’ said Jim Tait, Harmony Row President.
