Castlemilk weaves a new thread
Thursday, September 7th, 2006. Filed under Castlemilk.Castlemilk Environment Trust in Glasgow launched A Thread, the first permanent artwork to be commissioned in the UK from prominent Paris-based artist Esther Shalev-Gerz.
A public launch and inaugural walk will take place on Saturday September 9 leaving the car park of the Jeely Piece-Tower Play Zone at 55 Machrie Drive, Castlemilk at 2pm.
It will tour the ten new ‘shelters’ in Castlemilk Park which Esther and her team and ten local groups designed. They express people’s vision for the area and its future.
An imaginary line from shelter to shelter runs through the park to form A Thread – from past to present, from present to future, from person to person, a thread that links all ages, that brings the community together.
