Poet John’s book for sale
Saturday, August 12th, 2006. Filed under - South Side, Cardonald, Gorbals.Cardonald-based poet John Mitchell Lazaunekas has published his first anthology ‘Wandering and Pondering’. The retired merchant seaman has had some of his work published in the LOCAL NEWS and other places. He presented one of his rhymes extolling the beauty of the Doulton Fountain, framed and illustrated, to Glasgow City’s Lord Provost.
The glossy book is fully illustrated with his own colour photographs. In witty lines, and neat rhymes he wanders the world and ponders life.
Subjects as disparate as gambling, drinking, Merchant City living, football, romance, bridges, and canals, the hungry and the skint all get the Lazaunekas treatment.
‘I’m really pleased to have these poems published in my first book,’ said John whose grandparents immigrated to Gorbals from Lithuania. ‘Now I’m working on the next one.’
Copies of this great book of poems can be purchased from the LOCAL NEWS for £5 including postage and packing. Cheques should be made out to LOCAL NEWS and sent to the paper at Yam Publications, 73 Robertson Street, Glasgow G2 8QD. Remember to include your name and full postal address.
