    Oh lonesome Elvis

Saturday, August 12th, 2006. Filed under - South Side, - Top Stories, Gorbals.

AN Elvis impersonator is appealing for help after he lost his bag, containing hundreds of hours of backing tracks, in Crown Street. Gorbals. John Smith sat his black holdall down when he sat near Gorbals Health Centre on the way back from a gig in Lipton’s Social Club late on Friday July 21. When he went on his way he forgot to take his bag.

John, who does his Elvis impersonation on a non-professional basis, mostly for charity events, said, ‘It had a couple of hundred hours of backing in it that I’d built up over the years. Some of it was given to me, and some of it I had to pay for. I more or less have to hang up my tonsils now that I’ve lost them.’

There were also chicken legs in the bag that John was taking home for his dog. He added, ‘They can keep the legs if they give me back the backing tracks.’
