August is Oatlands Summer Fayre time and the date for the annual extravaganza is Saturday August 26 from 12 noon till 4pm. Councillor James Scanlon and MSP Frank McAveety will do the honours of opening the event which has been co-ordinated by Noreen Ann MacDonald at the Oatlands Community Resource Centre in Wolseley Street and will be centred there. The day will include all the fair favourites of bouncy castle, beat the goalie,  donkey rides, stalls, face painting, pop corn and candy floss as well as the essential Tea Room. Don’t miss it! What is unknown, is how the fast moving construction of the Bett Homes in the area will affect the existence of the ‘Blue Hut’ which is the resource centre. While there is a community centre on drawings of the extensive development of Oatlands, there is no assurance, yet, that funding is in place to make that materialise.
