Govan is seeking recognition as an Historic Town of world significance alongside St Andrews and Iona. Sparked by community interest and with research which showed Govan had the highest concentration of listed buildings in Glasgow, the local economic development agency Govan Workspace has produced the Govan Bulletin on Conservation stating the case for the important status. ‘Investment is urgently needed in this community but local people believe heritage is an important asset and have two years of research to support that.’
