Govan MSP Gordon Jackson QC has confirmed with the LOCAL NEWS that he has been re-selected for the Glasgow Govan constituency he currently represents and will cease all legal work by the end of August 2006. The national Labour Party endorsed Mr Jackson’s selection, following his promise to make politics his full-time job. His local Labour party returned him as their candidate.

Commenting on speculation last month that he may be passed over because of his failure to stop taking on legal cases, a Scottish Labour Party spokesman said, ‘He’s given a promise and understands the importance of that promise.’
