Golfers play for charity

Golfers were to the fore recently when they teed up at The Initiative’s Golf Tournament at Ralston Club and raised more than £9200 for good causes.‘Half the funds will go to the Hospice,’ said chief organiser Bill Hay who is business development manager at the Initiative in the Adelphi Centre, Commerce Street, Gorbals. ‘Last year we raised £3000 so this is a great boost and shows how popular the event is.’

In the picture are John Coyne who was assisted to set up in his own business as a Toastmaster by the Initiative and did the honours at the dinner and auction which followed the tournament. Guest speaker on the night was very amusing golf professional Campbell Elliot. Auction master was MSP Frank McAveety. Presenting the prizes was The Initiative’s Chief Executive Candy Munro and extreme right is Bill Hay, who is looking ahead to the next Initiative’s Golf Tournament.
