Flowers from Aldi
Saturday, August 12th, 2006. Filed under - South Side, Cardonald. In true continental style, Aldi in Cardonald wooed customers on opening day last month by presenting each one with a flower in a vase, a permanent shopping bag (to avoid buying plastic carriers every vist) and a packet of pancakes.Â
The happy Aldi team were delighted with response from local people. ‘More than 3000 people came through the door on day one,’ said Manager Gavin Cruickshank. ‘We’re still recruiting for staff so anyone interested should hand their CV in to us.’ On the site of the former Safeway store in Paisley Road West, the Aldi has been welcomed by local residents who say it is a much needed addition to shopping facilities.
