Saturday, August 12th, 2006. Filed under - South Side, Castlemilk, Gorbals, Govan.Castlemilk Stress Centre is hosting an Open Day on Thursday August 24 and STRESS everyone from anywhere is welcome! ‘The Centre has provided a range of quality services since 1994 and is a well-established social economy business,’ said Janine Lamont, Centre Manager. While Castlemilk clients will always be at the heart of its work, newboundaries of the Community Planning Partnerships enable the Centre to offer its extensive range of quality services to individuals in other areas of the city.
Sample sessions of the therapies will be given during the Open Day. These range from Aromatherapy and Reflexology to Reiki, Relaxation and Yoga. Information on introductory courses and training opportunities will also be available during the Open Day.
While the Castlemilk Centre is providing de-stress facilities, the similar project in Greater Govan has closed with the loss of several jobs.
Gorbals’ SEAL health project is re-launching after its funding comes to an end. Running since 1998, the project will have two redundancies. The SEAL’s Manager, Brenda Sowney, told the LOCAL NEWS, ‘We’re in early stages of talks just now so I can’t really say what will happen, but we’ve got real support now. We could be moving into new areas and starting new development plans and that could be exciting.’
